Hey Californication fans,
Charlie Runkle has a book out!
Or, at least Evan Handler does.
"It's Only Temporary: The Good News and the Bad News of Being Alive." Is a very funny, very profound book about how I finally learned to relax and enjoy life - only 23 years after being told I'd be dead in 6 months. Which means tells the story of the 20+ years since I was cured of acute leukemia. It's filled with the oddities and ironies of learning to reinvest in life after a long battle to preserve it.
I tell about my 27 break-ups, which were spread over only 10 relationships (I've averaged 2.7 per). About dating a woman who lives 12,500 miles away (not recommended). And about leaning in for a first kiss on New York's Staten Island Ferry, in spite of being surrounded by vomiting drunks.
Happily, the book becomes a fabulous love story once I've met my Italian born wife (who, along with her fellow native Italians, remains both fascinated and disgusted with the absence of American bidets). Ultimately, we experience the conception of a baby daughter, whose existence is - statistically speaking - even more unlikely than my own. In spite of it being a great story, THE BOOK NEEDS YOUR SUPPORT!
You can learn more about it on my website
